I'm a landscaper in Zone 5b/6a (more toward 6-ish for the last decade) and planted Angelonia for the first time in 2019. We rotate different annuals yearly based on performance. This is maybe the least finicky & showiest annual I've ever grown. We planted it in 4 locations with different soil & growing conditions in each location. Across-the-board, the Angelonia (Angelface Pink, Blue & Wedgewood Blue) performed flawlessly. Our grower said we would need to deadhead to promote new growth but they never needed it and kept growing & flowering non-stop until frost without ever showing any decline. Location #1 - (my house: no irrigation/heavily amended clayish soil/half-day, a.m. sun/watered & heavily fertilized when dry approx. 2x month) Planted very late (July) - Grew to about 24" tall x 12" wide. Location #2 - (my house: no irrigation/clayish soil/HARSH half-day, p.m. sun/watered & heavily fertilized when dry approx. 2x month) Planted very late (July) - Grew to about 18" tall x 8" wide. Presumably from the heavier soil and non-stop drying out. Location #3 - (client house: DAILY irrigation/loamy soil/3 hours of afternoon sun/HEAVY liquid fertilization - ~twice WEEKLY at 10x-25x regular strength) Planted late-May - Grew to 30" tall x 18"+W. Grew into a non-stop, flowering wall of color. Location #4 - (client house: DAILY irrigation/loamy soil/HARSH half-day, a.m. sun at the edge of a hot patio/HEAVY liquid fertilization - ~twice WEEKLY at 10x-25x regular strength) Planted late-May - Grew to 36"+ tall x 24"+W. Basically a non-stop, flower-covered SHRUB until frost. 'Stem' grew to 2" caliper & woody. We had to dig them out vs. hand-pull, they were so rooted in. *Again, I do fertilize relentlessly and unreasonably beyond recommendations.

Angelonia are heat-loving plants that will grow most vigorously and bloom best when the heat is on. They are plants best planted in mid-spring or later, since they won't really grow until the temperatures warm up. Angelonia will tolerate wet feet and a fair amount of drought. The plants are easy care with no deadheading needed. A bit of fertilizer or some compost in a garden bed is usually all that is needed for these plants to thrive. Due to their heat-loving nature they are one of the plants that can be planted even during the heat of mid-summer.
Don't forget that Angelface are great long lasting cut flowers with a slight grape soda fragrance. Try some in a flower arrangement this year and see for yourself!
An application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance.
Angelface® Angelonia are prized as vertical accent plants everywhere. Undoubtedly the finest Angelonia on the market today, Angelface are semi-upright with a good branching habit, have extra-large, brilliantly colored blooms, and thrive in hot, humid conditions.
