Good in shrub borders, groupings, masses, as a specimen, and great in containers (plant in ground in fall.) Wonderful with used with annuals such as Diamond Frost.

    Maintenance Notes:

Prefers well-drained soil, extremely adaptable to other soil conditions. It is best to prune immediately after flowering. Fertilize in early spring by applying slow release fertilizer specialized for trees and shrubs, follow the label for the recommended rate of application.

The next generation of Wine & Roses® weigela has the same dark burgundy foliage but a compact, mounded habit similar to that of spirea or boxwood.  Fine Wine® weigela is a refined plant with smaller leaves than Wine & Roses but similarly abundant pink spring flowers and excellent texture.  It's a great plant for the front of the border, the perennial bed, or used as a low foundation plant.

Here is a nice comparison of our entire Wine series of weigela.
