    Uses Notes:

This is a garden tomato that will prolifically produce snack-sized tomatoes with truly fantastic taste.  They grow large in the landscape, but when grown in a container they are more contained in size.  They do need to be staked or caged to grow them successfully.  This tomato will produce fruit for an extended period of time. If you are growing this plant in a container, a 14" diameter (5 gallon volume) is the minimum necessary size. The ideal size size would be a 16" to 20" (7-10 gallon) container. Be sure to provide support by using a tomato cage or other structure in the container.

    Maintenance Notes:

Seeds can be started indoors 5-6 weeks before the last frost in your area. Seeds should be planted about 1/8" into the soil then transplant the seedlings outdoors after all risk of frost has passed. You can also direct sow into your garden or pots outdoors after the threat of frost has passed. However, starting seeds indoors will give you a substantial head-start for harvesting your first tomatoes.

When germinating the seeds, be sure to keep the soil temperature at 75-90° until the seeds sprout. The temperatures can be decreased a bit once the plants are up and growing. The number of days to germination is 6-14.

Once the seedlings are a few inches tall and growing well, you may want to thin out the number of seedlings. One plant in a cell or pot would be ideal.  If you are direct seeding into the ground, thin seedlings until they are 24 to 36 inches apart. Rows should be about 3 feet apart.

Once you transplant the seedlings, it will take about 65-70 days for the first fruits to ripen.

Bellini is best suited to be grown in large patio planters, garden beds and raised beds. The cocktail sized tomatoes that it produces are great in salads, are perfect for appetizers and can be used in cocktails as well. Tomatoes will do best with a minimum of 6 hours of direct sun a day, although the more sun you give them, the happier they are.

    The basics:

    • Days to Germinate – 6-14 days
    • Germination Rate - 94-99%
    • Transplant to Harvest – 65-70 days
    • Planting Depth – 1/8”
    • Plant Spacing After Thinning – 24-30”
    • Row Spacing – 36”
    • Exposure – Full sun (6+ hours)

    • I've never grown anything from seed until now. I bought several PW tomato seeds, in fact every variety they have. As of June 15 my plants have been producing some very delicious fruit. I planted 9 seeds, Garden Treasure, Patio Sunshine, Bellini, Garden Gem, etc and all 9 came up. I had a slow growing seed with only one leaf when I planted it (yes it's too soon but it was now or never) but is flourishing. I haven't tasted all the varieties but the Bellini is absolutely wonderful and so sweet and very low acid. My husband even said about all the ones that have ripened, they all have that really nice tomato taste that he always looks for but never is in grocery markets. These are so good! The rest are still ripening but wanted to put out a review so ppl know. I used fabric grow bags with Coast of Maine potting soil, Neptunes Harvest fertilizer, worm castings, extra perlite for drainage. I placed basil in fabric pots next to the plants so I don't get any horn worms, sprinkled cinnamon around the parameter of the fabric pots to keep ants away which then it keeps the aphids away and reapply after rain. What I also did was use 1 gal water jugs to winterize them in that I planted in late fall early winter. There's videos on YT. It helped to jumpstart my tomato seeds and season and the only one in the neighborhood with tomatoes in June. But some of the seeds harvest in 45days. Thankfully I don't have any pests to speak of, just amazing tomatoes. Even the birds, squirrels etc haven't found them yet. Now that I've probably jinxed myself, give these a try and guarantee you won't be disappointed. So tasty and yummy.
