We purchased these at end of season clearance and thought it might be a but of a gamble. We kept the outside near the porch and they wintered over well. It's early in the season and they already have 3" of green tufts springing up between the woody stems leftover from the fall. Can't wait to see them bloom!

I’d like to add to my original comments on this gorgeous “Amsonia- String Theory” Proven Winners plant. First, if you’re interested in this plant, know for certain you must purchase the “String Theory” variety. This variety has sturdy stems that are deep green, not black and the flower color is a soft periwinkle blue. Three years later my plant is 2.5 ft tall, sits in the rear of my rock garden offering a billowing cloud of greenery that sways gracefully in breeze. It is a true standout and continues to be a conversation starter which is why I purchased two more “String Theory” plants from a local nursery to add to our floral display around our pool patio. If you need to find this gorgeous plant, I suggest you contact: Proven Winners Direct. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwi5sfKcrKT6AhWBkYkEHULtBscQFnoECA4QAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fprovenwinnersdirect.com%2F&usg=AOvVaw0xzusQj45ILaTwW7iNCpmS They will provide you the name of nursery close to your home. Good luck!

2023 Review: Update to my original review: the plant is thriving now on year two. Probably 24 to 30 inches tall. Plan for a lot of growth in subsequent years. I’m looking forward to the fall color change. 2022 Review I planted this for the first time this spring. So far, underwhelmed. It only has two or three branches and has yet to flower (as of July). I’m hopeful they grow and spread next spring. Right now the plant is 12 inches tall. We’ll see what time does to this plant.

I'm glad to see this as it is a delightful plant. I'm surprised that you did not mention the wonderful yellow colour the foliage turns in the Fall. One of my favourites due to multi-season interest. And one of the last to emerge from the ground in the spring. I'd recommend putting in a reminder marker so you don't accidentally uproot it.

A few years ago, I stumbled across this Amsonia plant at a local garden center during their end of season perennial sale. This then foot tall plant with its many vibrant ostrich-like plumes gently swaying on a breezy mid-August afternoon and in a one gallon pot minus any sign of a floral display or tag indentifing its name, care, or planting instructions more than caught my eye. It’s gracefulness simply beckoned me to take it home. Somehow, I knew it’s deep green plumes would be perfect in the rear part of my flower garden. Now, three years later it’s grown into a circular lush display of greenery that produces an abundance of periwinkle colored softball size, snowflake-like blooms early every summer. My Amsonia is an eye catching plant and often becomes a conversion starter with those who pass by flower gardens.
